Privacy Policy

What we collect

We collect information necessary to provide the SATCoach service. This includes: account information (name, email address, role — student, parent, or tutor), student practice data (answers to practice questions, time spent, mastery levels, diagnostic test results, and worksheet submissions), and tutor content (uploaded questions, worksheets, and session notes).

How we use it

We use your information to: provide adaptive test practice, generate progress reports and session insights, send weekly parent updates, enable the tutor dashboard, and communicate with you about the service. Student practice data is used solely to personalize their learning experience and generate reports for their parent and tutor.

Data ownership

Student practice data belongs to the parent account holder. This includes answers, scores, mastery levels, diagnostic results, and worksheet submissions. Parents can view, export, or delete this data at any time.

Tutor-uploaded content belongs to the tutor. Questions, worksheets, session notes, and other educational materials remain the tutor's property. Tutors can delete their content at any time.

Uploaded content is used solely for real-time student interaction and is never used for model training. When tutor content is processed by AI (for extraction, formatting, or answer generation), these are real-time inference calls only — the content is not stored by AI providers or used to train their models.

What we don't do

We do not sell, rent, share, or trade your personal information with anyone. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share student data with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not use tutor-uploaded content to build our own question banks or share it with other tutors.

Third-party services

We use third-party service providers to operate SATCoach, including providers for authentication (account sign-in), AI analysis (powering adaptive features, explanations, question extraction, and insights), email delivery (weekly reports and parent updates), and payment processing (subscription billing). These providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy policies. A current list of sub-processors is available upon request by emailing hello@satcoach.ai.

Data security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Student data is stored in a secured database with access limited to authorized accounts (the student, their linked parent, and their linked tutor). We do not store payment information directly — payment processing is handled by Stripe.

Your rights

You can request to view, export, or delete your data at any time by emailing hello@satcoach.ai. We will respond within 30 days. Parents can request deletion of their child's data. Tutors can request removal of their dashboard access and uploaded content.

If you're a resident of California, you have additional rights under the CCPA including the right to know what personal information we hold and the right to request its deletion.

Account independence

Parent and student accounts are independent of any tutor or class. If a tutor removes a student from their class or the class ends, the parent account and all practice history remain active and accessible to the parent. Students and parents do not lose access to their data when a tutor relationship ends.

Children's privacy

SATCoach is designed for use by students, including those under 18. Student accounts are created by or with the verifiable consent of a parent or guardian. We collect only the data necessary to provide the educational service. We comply with COPPA requirements for users under 13.

Data retention

If you cancel your subscription, your account and data are preserved in case you return. You can request full data deletion at any time by emailing hello@satcoach.ai. Tutor-uploaded content is retained until the tutor deletes it or requests account deletion. When a tutor is removed from a student's account, the tutor loses access to that student's data. The student's practice history is retained under the parent's account.

We may retain anonymized, aggregated data (such as question difficulty statistics and overall performance patterns) after account deletion. This data cannot be linked back to any individual student.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email to active users.
